Stony Brook University Student Indicted for Selling Methamphetamine

William Turri Allegedly Sold Methamphetamine Pills Out of His Dorm Room

(SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y.) – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney today announced that William Turri, 20, of Fairport, was indicted for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and other related charges, for allegedly selling methamphetamine out of his dorm room at Stony Brook University.

“This defendant allegedly turned a college dorm room into a methamphetamine distribution hub,” said District Attorney Tierney. “We will not tolerate people who peddle poison in our communities, especially those who do so targeting students on college campuses. I thank the Suffolk County Police Department and the Stony Brook University Police Department for their collaborative work on this case.”

According to the investigation, on two occasions in April 2026, an undercover Suffolk County police officer contacted Turri through Instagram after allegedly receiving information that Turri was selling Adderall on Stony Brook University’s campus. On both occasions, Turri allegedly directed the undercover officer to meet him at his dorm room where Turri allegedly handed the officer methamphetamine pills in exchange for money.

On April 27, 2026, the undercover officer and Turri allegedly arranged to meet at Turri’s dorm to conduct a third drug transaction, but instead, members of the Suffolk County Police Department arrested Turri.

Law enforcement executed a search warrant at Turri’s dorm room and allegedly recovered over two ounces of methamphetamine pressed into orange pills resembling pharmaceutical Adderall, ketamine, and drug packaging material.

As a result of his arrest, Stony Brook University placed Turri on interim suspension.

On June 18, 2026, Turri was arraigned on the indictment before Supreme Court Justice Steven A. Piliweski, for the following charges:
· One count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree, a Class A-II felony;
· Three counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, Class B felonies;
· Four counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, Class B felonies;
· One count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a Class A misdemeanor; and
· One count of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree, a Class A misdemeanor.

Under New York law, the charges are non-bail eligible, meaning prosecutors cannot ask for and the court cannot set bail. As a result, Turri was released without bail. Turri is due back in court on July 19, 2026, and faces up to three to 10 years if convicted of the top count. He is being represented by Michael Pernesiglio, Esq.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Tess Andrew of the Narcotics Bureau, and the investigation was conducted by members of the Suffolk County Police Department’s Narcotics Unit with the assistance of the Stony Brook University Police Department.

Criminal complaints and indictments are merely accusatory instruments. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. No one is above the law.
