Salvadoran National Sentenced To 16 Years in Prison for Sexually Abusing Biological Daughter For Over a Decade

The Defendant Repeatedly Subjected His Daughter to Sexual Abuse for the Majority of Her Life

(SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y.) – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney today announced that a 46-year-old Salvadoran national[1] was sentenced to 16 years in prison after pleading guilty to Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree, for repeatedly subjecting his daughter to sexual abuse for years.

“A father is supposed to protect his child. Period.” said District Attorney Tierney. “This defendant repeatedly betrayed that responsibility for years, and today’s sentence holds him accountable for the harm he caused. I thank the victim for bravely coming forward and testifying under such difficult circumstances.”

According to court documents and the defendant’s admissions during his guilty plea allocution, the defendant began sexually abusing his daughter in January 2014, when she was just six years old. For years, the abuse occurred when other family members were not home, or when the rest of the household was sleeping. On August 5, 2025, a few days after the last incident of sexual abuse, the victim told her brother and their mother about the sexual abuse, and her mother contacted the police. The defendant was arrested on August 6, 2025.

On April 29, 2026, the defendant pleaded guilty to Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree, a Class B violent felony, before Acting Supreme Court Justice Karen M. Wilutis.

On June 18, 2026, Justice Wilutis sentenced the defendant to 16 years in prison, to be followed by 20 years of post-release supervision, and he will be required to register as a sex offender. He was represented by Scott Zerner, Esq.

The United States Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement has lodged a detainer to take custody of the defendant following this prosecution.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Katherine Flinchum of the Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Bureau, and the investigation was conducted by Detective Christian Vasquez of the Suffolk County Police Department’s Special Victims Section.

[1] The District Attorney’s Office is not naming the defendant to protect the identity of the child victim.
