Former School Bus and Uber Driver Pleads Guilty to Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child

Miguel Enrique Diaz Faces 16 Years in Prison for Repeatedly Raping the Child for Almost a Year

(SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y.) – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney today announced that Miguel Enrique Diaz, 49, of Bay Shore, pleaded guilty to Course of Sexual Conduct, for repeatedly raping a 12-year-old child.

“Today’s conviction represents a measure of justice for the young victim who showed tremendous courage in coming forward,” said District Attorney Tierney. “Our office remains committed to protecting children and holding predators accountable, regardless of their position in the community.”

According to court documents and the defendant’s admissions during his guilty plea allocution, between December 2022 and October 2023, Enrique Diaz repeatedly raped a 12-year-old child in the backseat of his car and in his home.  During that time, he had been working as an Uber driver as well as a school bus driver in the Bay Shore School District. In March 2024, the victim told her mother about the sexual abuse, and the mother contacted the police. On March 13, 2024, Enrique Diaz was arrested following an investigation by the Suffolk County Police Department’s Special Victims Section.

On March 17, 2026, Enrique Diaz pleaded guilty to Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree, a Class B violent felony, before Acting Supreme Court Justice Karen M. Wilutis.

Diaz is due back in court on April 24, 2026, and is expected to be sentenced to 16 years in prison followed by 15 years of post-release supervision. He will also have to register as a sex offender. Diaz is being represented by Jason Russo, Esq.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Kirsten Reilly of the Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Bureau, and the investigation was conducted by Detective Michele Speed of the Suffolk County Police Department’s Special Victims Section.

Criminal complaints and indictments are merely accusatory instruments. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. No one is above the law.
