Huntington Man Sentenced to 23 Years in Prison for First Degree Manslaughter

Christopher Jackson Also Sentenced to Five Years Post Release Supervision for Bludgeoning his Girlfriend to Death in 2021

(SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y.) – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney today announced that Christopher Jackson was sentenced to 23 years in prison for killing his girlfriend and leaving her lifeless body in a Village of Huntington boarding house. The defendant fled the scene then turned himself to police a week later.

“We are satisfied that this lengthy sentence will keep this violent offender off the streets,” said Tierney. “This was a violent and brutal act and now this defendant is going to be held accountable for his indefensible actions.”

Jackson, 46, who plead guilty in March to Manslaughter in the First Degree, will serve 23 years in prison plus five years of post-release supervision. He was sentenced today before Judge Karen Wilutis.

According to court filings and statements made by the defendant, on January 18, 2021 police were called to the Suffolk Hotel on Elm Street in the Village of Huntington regarding an odor emanating from one of the boarding rooms located there.  When they arrived, police discovered Mareasa Westcott’s body.

Jackson surrendered to the Suffolk County Police Department on January 25, 2021. During his interview he admitted he struck her while she was lying on the bed, at least two times with a piece of wood from the bed frame.

This case was prosecuted by Bureau Chief Raphael Pearl of the Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Dena Rizopoulos.

Criminal complaints and indictments are merely accusatory instruments. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. No one is above the law.
