(SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y.) – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney today announced that a Selden man,[1] 68, was sentenced to 32 to 57 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree, and other related charges, for sexually abusing three of his children over a thirteen-year period.
“It is unconscionable that a father would subject his own children to years of such heinous acts of sexual violence,” said District Attorney Tierney. “Our hearts go out to the victims for their bravery in coming forward after everything that they endured.”
The evidence at trial established that, between 1997 and 2010, the defendant subjected three of his children to ongoing sexual abuse. The children were between the ages of seven and 13 years old at the time and were unable to report the abuse to anyone because they were afraid of being taken away from the family and separated from their siblings. When the three children became adults, they reported the abuse to the police.
On November 25, 2024, the defendant was convicted after a jury trial heard before Acting Supreme Court Justice Karen M. Wilutis, for three counts of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree, Class B violent felonies and one count of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a Class D violent felony.
On January 7, 2025, Justice Wilutis sentenced the defendant to 32 to 57 years in prison. He will also be required to registered as a sex offender. The defendant was represented by Ian Fitzgerald, Esq. and Chase Brown, Esq.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Michelle Chiuchiolo of the Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Bureau, and the investigation was conducted by Detective Ashley Berube, formerly of the Suffolk County Police Department’s Special Victims Section.
