Farmingville Man Indicted for Weapons Possession and Assault of Police Officers

Kyri Law Allegedly Rammed into a Police Vehicle While Fleeing Law Enforcement

(SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y.) – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney today announced that Kyri Law, 18, of Farmingville, was indicted for Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Assault and other related charges, for allegedly possessing an unserialized loaded handgun with an extended magazine, and for allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase that resulted in injuries to three officers.

“This case is yet another reminder of the dangerous situations our law enforcement officers face every day,” said District Attorney Tierney. “We are grateful for their courage as they work diligently to keep us safe.”

According to the investigation, in August 2025, members of the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Gang Task Force, in partnership with detectives from the Suffolk County Police Department’s Gun Crime Reduction Unit launched an investigation into Law for allegedly displaying an illegal firearm on social media.

On August 28, 2025, when investigators arrived at Law’s Farmingville apartment complex to execute a search warrant for the illegal firearm, Law allegedly exited his house through the front door and got into his mother’s 2022 Alfa Romeo before investigators approached the door.

Law allegedly sped from the apartment complex and rammed a police vehicle, injuring an officer. He then allegedly led police on an 8-mile high-speed chase through Suffolk County, from Farmingville to Oakdale, during which two more officers were injured when their vehicle crashed.

During the alleged chase, Law allegedly threw a black bag containing an illegal, loaded 9mm unserialized gun with an extended magazine out of the vehicle’s window, which was later recovered after a lengthy search by members of law enforcement.

On September 16, 2025, Law was arraigned on the indictment before Supreme Court Justice Timothy P. Mazzei for the following charges:

  • One count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class C violent felony;
  • One count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a Class D violent felony;
  • One count of Assault in the Second Degree, a Class D violent felony;
  • One count of Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, a Class E felony;
  • One count of Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree, a Class A misdemeanor; and
  • One count of Reckless Driving, an unclassified misdemeanor.

Justice Mazzei ordered Law held on $25,000 cash, $50,000 bond or $500,000 partially secured bond during the pendency of the case.  Law is due back in court on October 23, 2025, and faces 15 years in prison if convicted of the top count. He is being represented by John LoTurco, Esq.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Martha Duffy and Melissa Turk of the Violent Criminal Enterprises Bureau, and the investigation was conducted by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Gang Task Force, as well as Detective Christopher Marksberry of the Suffolk County Police Department’s Gun Crime Reduction Unit.

Criminal complaints and indictments are merely accusatory instruments. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. No one is above the law.
