United States Postal Worker Indicted for Rape and Sexual Misconduct

Jenry Buestan Gutama Allegedly Lured One of the Child Victims into His Postal Truck and Raped Her

(SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y.) – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney today announced that Jenry Buestan Gutama, 23, of Moriches, was indicted for Rape, Sexual Misconduct, and other related charges, for allegedly sexually assaulting two 15-year-old girls on separate occasions.

“The allegations against this defendant are deeply disturbing,” said District Attorney Tierney. “We thank the victims who bravely came forward, as well as the East Hampton Town Police Department for their swift action to bring this defendant to justice.”

According to the investigation, on May 11, 2026, Buestan Gutama was working as a United States Postal Worker when he allegedly drove past a 15-year-old girl who was walking from school. Buestan Gutama, who knew the victim, allegedly offered her a ride to get food. Instead of taking the child to get food, he allegedly drove to a cul-de-sac, parked, and prevented the child from leaving the vehicle. Buestan Gutama allegedly grabbed the child’s wrists, pulled her to the back of the postal truck, and sexually assaulted her.

The victim walked back to her school and later reported the incident. On May 15, 2026, Buestan Gutama was arrested by the East Hampton Town Police Department.

Following local media coverage from Buestan Gutama’s arrest for that incident, a now 19-year-old family friend of Buestan Gutama contacted police and reported that when she was 15 years old, Buestan Gutama allegedly sexually assaulted her in his car after parking near her home.

On June 10, 2026, Buestan Gutama was arraigned on the indictment before Acting Supreme Court Justice Karen M. Wilutis, for the following charges:
· One count of Rape in the First Degree, a Class B violent felony;
· One count of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a Class D violent felony;
· One count of Rape in the Third Degree, a Class E felony;
· Two counts of Sexual Misconduct, Class A misdemeanors; and
· Two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Class A misdemeanors.

Justice Wilutis ordered Buestan Gutama held on $150,000 cash, $450,000 bond, or $1,500,000 partially secured bond during the pendency of the case. Buestan Gutama is due back in court on July 17, 2026, and faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted of the top count. He is being represented by Chase Brown, Esq.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Kirsten Reilly of the Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Bureau, and the investigation was conducted by Detectives James Gesa and Michael Coleman of the East Hampton Town Police Department.

Criminal complaints and indictments are merely accusatory instruments. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. No one is above the law.
