East Northport Man Sentenced to 20 Years in Prison for Manslaughter

Defendant Shot Victim Nicholas Ehrmann to Death Following a Verbal Dispute

(SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y.) – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney today announced that defendant Joshua Taylor of East Northport was sentenced to 20 years in prison, plus 5 years of post-release supervision, after pleading guilty in April to Manslaughter in the First Degree.

“Over nothing more than a verbal argument, this defendant took the life of Mr. Ehrmann and in the process ruined his own life,” said DA Tierney. “My office will prosecute gun violence to the fullest extent of the law. We will not tolerate it. I thank the Suffolk Police for all their work on this case.”

Taylor, age 21, admitted at the time of his plea that he had shot and killed Ehrmann after a brief verbal exchange in a 7-Eleven parking lot in Huntington Station on August 22, 2020, at approximately 6:15 a.m. Following the exchange, Taylor confronted Ehrmann in the middle of Depot Road, pulled out a handgun and fatally shot Ehrmann in the street. Taylor then fled on foot and was arrested on September 8, 2020. He pled guilty on April 15, 2022.

Taylor was sentenced today by the Honorable Anthony Senft. Glenn Obedin was his defense attorney.

This case was prosecuted by Frank Schroeder of the Homicide Bureau.
