(SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y.) – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney today announced that Antwane Lee, 31, of Bay Shore, was indicted for Murder in the Second Degree, for the alleged fatal stabbing of 24-year-old Justin Evans.
“It is alleged that a verbal disagreement escalated to deadly violence and that the defendant chose to use a knife to resolve the dispute,” said District Attorney Tierney. “Our office will work diligently to seek justice for the victim.”
According to the investigation, on March 30, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Suffolk County Police responded to several 911 calls reporting a man bleeding profusely in the parking lot of the Heatherwood Apartment Complex in East Patchogue, banging on doors and yelling for help.
Upon arrival, police learned that Evans had been taken to NYU Langone Hospital, where trauma surgeons attempted to treat him for stab wounds to his neck and torso. Despite the efforts of medical personnel who provided massive blood transfusions to save his life, Evans succumbed to his injuries.
As the investigation ensued, the Suffolk County Police Department Homicide Squad learned that Evans had allegedly been with Lee at the Heatherwood Apartment Complex on Pond View Drive in East Patchogue.
Earlier that evening, Lee allegedly became angry with Evans during a verbal altercation and retrieved a large, serrated hunting knife. He then allegedly lunged at Evans with the knife, stabbing him in the neck and torso. After he was stabbed, Evans, bleeding profusely, ran to the door of a nearby apartment and began banging on the door, begging for help. Lee ultimately took Evans to the hospital, but allegedly left Evans at the door to the Emergency Room. He then allegedly fled in a 2016 Nissan Altima but later turned himself in to the Suffolk County Police Department’s Homicide Squad. Police allegedly recovered a large knife with what appeared to be blood from the crime scene.
On April 15, 2025, Lee was arraigned on the indictment before Supreme Court Justice Richard Ambro for Murder in the Second Degree, a Class A felony.
Justice Ambro ordered Lee remanded during the pendency of the case. Lee is due back in court on May 14, 2025, and faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted. He is being represented by Christopher Gioe, Esq.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Michelle Chiuchiolo of the Homicide Bureau, and the investigation was conducted by Detective Walter Sosnowski of the Suffolk County Police Department Homicide Squad.
