NOTICE: People v. Rex Heuermann
Please read the following messages prior to submitting a Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) request for the Suffolk County District Attorney’s files in the matter of People v. Rex Heuermann.
● FOIL requests made prior to the sentencing on this case will be denied and/or held in abeyance until final entry of judgment. C.P.L. §1.20(16)(c).
● Due to the high volume of FOIL requests with respect to this case, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office is already compiling all documents and files for public release. Upon completion, all such documents and files will be posted on this website and available for view or download. The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office will concurrently post a detailed redaction log, precisely sorted by individual file, to aid in the event that a member of the public wishes to challenge any determination of the Office with respect to any particular record.
● Accordingly, you need not submit any request to keep your place “in line;” all legally available information will be released to the public simultaneously. As an alternative to submitting a FOIL request, you may sign up for progress alerts using the form below.
● There will be no fee assessed for the production of these records to any party.
● Members of the public who submit FOIL requests will be sent this exact information as a response.
