(SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y.) – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney today announced that Bryan Ventura Ramirez, 20, was indicted for Manslaughter in the Second Degree for allegedly shooting Robin Moscoso Hernandez, his 17-year-old friend.
“In this disturbing case, a 20-year-old allegedly possessed an illegal gun and ended up shooting and killing his friend,” said District Attorney Tierney. “Ghost guns and illegal firearms of any kind have no place in Suffolk County. My office continues the tireless work to keep illegal weapons off our streets.”
According to the investigation, on October 18, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Suffolk County Police responded to a 911 call originating from 9 Francine Avenue in North Amityville, where Ventura Ramirez lived with his family. Once there, police discovered Moscoso Hernandez laying in the hallway with a gunshot wound to his chest. Moscoso Hernandez was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:00 p.m.
On October 18, 2025, police allegedly recovered a handgun under Ramirez’s bed. The handgun, considered a “ghost” gun, did not contain a serial number and had been created from a 3D printer. A 9 mm shell casing was found inside the gun, which had not been expended properly. Additionally, sixteen rounds of 9 mm ammunition were allegedly recovered in a bag found in the defendant’s bedroom. Ventura Ramirez was arrested that night.
On November 17, 2025, Ventura Ramirez was arraigned on the indictment before Justice John B. Collins for the following charges:
- Manslaughter in the Second Degree, a Class C felony;
- Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a Class E felony; and
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, a Class A misdemeanor.
Justice Collins ordered Ventura Ramirez held on $100,000 cash, $300,000 bond or $1,000,000 partially secured bond during the pendency of the case. Having posted the $300,000 bond, Judge Collins ordered Ventura Ramirez placed on supervised release with GPS conditions. Ventura Ramirez is due back in court on January 7, 2025, and faces 5 to 15 years in prison if convicted on the top count. He is represented by Gregory Grizopolous, Esq.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Michelle Chiuchiolo of the Homicide Bureau, and the investigation was conducted by Detective T. Michael Palumbo of the Suffolk County Police Department Homicide Squad.
