(SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y.) – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney today announced that Jimmy Harry Velasquezgomez, 44, a Honduran national, was indicted for Sexual Abuse in the First Degree for grabbing the buttocks of children in TJ Maxx in Medford on three separate occasions.
“The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office takes allegations of crimes against children extremely seriously,” said District Attorney Tierney. “The charges against this defendant describe disturbing acts of sexual abuse that strike at the heart of our community’s sense of safety. My office will relentlessly pursue justice on behalf of these victims and their families.”
According to the investigation, on April 19, 2025, the 7-year-old victim, who was shopping with her mother in the Medford TJ Maxx, asked permission to look around the toy aisle to which her mother agreed. As she stood in the aisle, a man walked towards her and allegedly touched and squeezed her buttocks with his hand. The victim went back to her mother to tell her what happened. The mother immediately began to look for the man but couldn’t find him. She called the police, who arrived on scene and began an investigation.
On September 20, 2025, the 11-year-old victim was with her parents in the store and walked a short distance away to look for a gift for friend. She observed a man holding his genitals through his clothes. A short time later, that man allegedly walked toward her and grabbed her buttocks with his hand as he passed. The victim told her parents what happened, but the man already left the store. The family then called the police and reported the incident.
On October 29, 2025, the 9-year-old victim was shopping with her mother and asked permission to look around the toy aisle while her mother was at the end of that same aisle looking at clothes. The victim noticed that a man passed her and then looked down the aisle a few times before allegedly approaching the child, pulling up the bottom of her sweatshirt, and squeezing her buttocks. The child ran to her mom for help immediately and they contacted the police.
The Suffolk County Police Department gathered evidence, including video surveillance from each incident, which allegedly showed Velasquezgomez on each incident date. Velasquezgomez was also allegedly observed on video surveillance touching his genitals over the clothes while staring at the 9-year-old child.
On November 14, 2025, Velasquezgomez was arraigned on the indictment before Acting Supreme Court Justice Karen M. Wilutis for three counts of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, Class D violent felonies, three counts of Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree, Class A misdemeanors, and three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Class A misdemeanors.
Justice Wilutis ordered Velasquezgomez held on $350,000 cash, $950,000 bond, or $3.5 million partially secured bond. He is due back in court on January 14, 2025 and faces up to seven years in prison. Velasquezgomez is represented by Daniel Belano, Esq.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Alexandra Raso of the Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Bureau, and the investigation was conducted by Detective Jhon Puentes of the Suffolk County Police Department Special Victims Section.
