Senior Business Intelligence Systems Developer

As a part of the Office’s drive to leverage modern technological solutions in the pursuit of justice and public safety for the communities we serve, we are currently seeking one (1) candidate for the position of Senior Business Intelligence Systems Developer for an automation expert role.

Distinguishing Features of this Class
This individual will help design and implement automation projects, and manage the Power Platform for the SCDA in their Microsoft 365 environment. Other 365 administrator functions may be requested as needed. This is a hands-on opportunity for those who want to take a vertically-integrated role in managing automation and emerging technologies, while working with non-technology staff to turn use cases into reality, making our communities safer.
This individual should have strong knowledge of Power Automate, Power Apps, and the ability to utilize formulas within Power Automate Desktop. Ideally, this individual will also have knowledge of other automation platforms, such as Robot Process Automation via UIPath. Sufficient knowledge of AI solutions in the Microsoft Power Platform and Azure AI Studio to independently build processes, such as Copilot chatbots, is appreciated. PowerBI knowledge is ideal. A general understanding of the 365 platform is desired, as well as general knowledge of AI platforms and technology stacks in the productivity software space. Previous experience in a Microsoft 365 administrator function or role with similar job duties is appreciated but not required. This position will require working with both technology and non-technology staff, and may have some supervisory activities.

Typical Work Activities
• Evaluates operational needs and makes recommendations for enhanced or additional applications of automation and business intelligence technologies and solutions
• Create automated processes in Microsoft 365 through Power Automate and Power Apps, including utilizing formulas within Power Automate Desktop
• Work independently and with external vendors to create and/or implement robot process automation scripts in UIPath or similar software format
• Assist in maintenance of existing intranet, RPA, and cloud-based internal applications and automations
• Assists in the development of Artificial Intelligence solutions, both COTS and within the agency’s Azure environment, as well as data solutions through PowerBI
• Assists in the administration of the Microsoft 365 environment
• Implements integrations with third-party applications in Microsoft 365
• May provide technical guidance to lower level developers
• Works with operating departments to understand operational systems and data and to identify enhanced opportunities

Full Performance Knowledges, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics
Must have intricate knowledge of MS 365 Power Platform software, including Power Automate. Power Automate for Desktop skills strongly desired. Knowledge of other automation platforms is desired. Experience with developing AI processes involving business intelligence or productivity, such as through Copilot or Azure AI Studio, is strongly desired, as well as experience or knowledge of PowerBI. General knowledge of MS 365 administrator duties is desired. Thorough knowledge of data processing and business intelligence hardware and software including capabilities and application; ability to configure and/or develop moderately complex business intelligence computer programs and databases; ability to analyze and solve problems; ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions; ability to establish effective working relationships with others; ability to compile and prepare comprehensive reports and diagrams; ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Compensation
$80,000 negotiable depending on experience and qualifications.

Minimum Qualifications
Either:
A) Graduation from a college with federally-authorized accreditation or registration by NY State with a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, business or public administration or a related field, and three (3) years of experience utilizing Business Intelligence, data warehouse technology, Power Automate or other automation software to create automated workflows and/or database reports using cloud platforms,

B) Graduation from a college with federally-authorized accreditation or registration by NY State with an Associate’s Degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, business or public administration or a related field, and five (5) years of experience utilizing Business Intelligence, data warehouse technology, Power Automate or other automation software to create automated workflows and/or database reports using cloud platforms,
C) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of A) and B).

SPECIAL NOTE: Because of the rapid evolution of technology in this field, qualifying experience must have been gained within the last five (5) years.
