(SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y.) – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney today announced that a Bay Shore man, 33, was sentenced to 23 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of Course of Sexual Conduct in the First Degree, and related charges, for repeatedly sexually abusing his daughter over a period of approximately one year.
“Today, justice has been served, not only for the victim, but for all children in our community who deserve to feel safe,” said District Attorney Tierney. “The defendant’s actions were reprehensible, and the sentence reflects the gravity of the harm done to an innocent child. Our priority will always be to protect our most vulnerable and to ensure that those who commit such heinous acts face the consequences of their actions.”
The evidence at trial established that between October 2021 and November 2022, the victim, who at that time was eight and nine years old, lived with her mother and father on an alternating weekly schedule. During the time she was with her father, the defendant engaged in acts of sexual abuse against his daughter and then threatened to beat her if she told anyone.
In the fall of 2022, the victim’s mother noticed that the victim had been extremely anxious about upcoming visits with her father, and in November 2022, the victim disclosed the abuse to her mother. The mother supported the victim in reporting the incidents to the police, and the defendant was placed under arrest on November 8, 2022.
On October 10, 2025, the defendant was convicted by a jury heard before Supreme Court Justice Timothy Mazzei of the following charges:
• Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree, a Class B violent felony;
• Incest in the First Degree, a Class B violent felony; and
• Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A misdemeanor.
After the verdict, he was remanded to jail. On November 26, 2025, the defendant was sentenced to 23 years in prison followed by 20 years of post-release supervision. He was represented by George Duncan, Esq.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Johanna Poremba and Dana Castaldo of the Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Bureau, and the investigation was conducted by Detective Christopher Albanese of the Suffolk County Police Department Special Victims Section. This case was also assisted by Crime Victim Advocate Sorene Ryan.
