Islip Man Sentenced To 12 Years in Prison for His Role in Narcotics and Weapons Trafficking Ring

Travis Austin Pleaded Guilty in August to Selling Fentanyl, Cocaine and Illegal Firearms

(SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y.) – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney today announced that Travis Austin, 32, of Islip, was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty in August 2025 to Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree, Criminal Sale of a Firearm in the Third Degree and other related charges for participating in numerous large-scale sales of fentanyl, cocaine and firearms.

“This sentence is another example of my office’s commitment to keeping illegal guns and deadly drugs off our streets,” said District Attorney Tierney. “If you possess, sell or bring illegal guns and drugs to Suffolk County, we will find you and you will face the consequences of breaking the law.”

According to the investigation, and the defendant’s admissions during his guilty plea allocution, between June and September 2024, Austin participated in numerous large-scale sales of fentanyl and cocaine throughout Suffolk County. Additionally, Austin illegally sold a loaded pistol and arranged the sale of four other pistols during that time period.

On October 1, 2024, Austin arrived at the Starbucks located at Expressway Drive South in Islandia for the purpose of selling five guns, after having arranged the sale.

Upon pulling into the parking lot, Austin was placed under arrest, and his car was seized and searched pursuant to a court-issued warrant. Inside his car, police recovered five unserialized handguns with 3D printed component parts, along with multiple cellphones consistent with those engaged in narcotics and firearms trafficking. Police also recovered fentanyl and felony-weight cocaine from inside his car.

Police also executed a search warrant on a storage unit belonging to Austin. Inside the unit, police recovered two kilo presses, used to form narcotics into their signature brick shape, along with other drug paraphernalia consistent with drug dealing.

On August 27, 2025, Austin pleaded guilty before Supreme Court Justice Steven Pilewski to the following charges:

  • Three counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree, Class A-I felonies;
  • Six counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree, Class A-II felonies;
  • Six counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, Class C violent felonies;
  • Criminal Possession of a high-capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, a Class D violent felony;
  • Six counts of Criminal Sale of Firearm in the Third Degree, class D felonies; and
  • Eighteen counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, all Class B felonies.

On January 20, 2026, Austin was sentenced to 12 years in prison. He was represented by Chase Brown, Esq.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Kristen E. L. Yeamans of the Violent Crime Enterprises Bureau, and the investigation was conducted by members of the Suffolk County Police Department’s District Attorney Squad.

Criminal complaints and indictments are merely accusatory instruments. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. No one is above the law.
